Soy milk and Thailand people

People around the world may start their day with coffee and milk in the morning or drink it all day long. Thai people do the same as well. However, many Thai people love to drink soy milk instead. Soy milk in Thai is called Nam Toa Hua. It is a famous drink in the morning and evening.

What is it made off?

The soy milk made of medium size of soybean. Soybean must soak in the water 8-10 hours before boilling and squeeze the milk out. Add sugar to make sweeten as you like. It is not difficult to make it. The must have equipment is pot, blender and thin white fabric (to separate soy bean and liquid). Now a day, it is much easier to make soy milk than the pass. In Thailand we have a special machine for cooking soy milk. Where to get it?

There are small cart every street of Thailand selling soybean in the morning and evening. It cost 8-25 Baht /bags (around 20-80 cent). For those who do not like sweet can request for less sugar. You can add white jelly, tapioca, boiled red bean,  boiled job’s tears and basil seed. Adding water chestnut and jingko biloba is highly recommend but a few street shop has it.

Benefit of Soy milk

It is filled with nutrients with proteins, fiber, vitamins and minerals.  Beside soymilk is good source of energy and keep your body functioning at its optimum level. There are other benefit of soy milk which is included improve lipid profile, strengthen blood vessel integrity, promote weight loss, prevent prostate cancer, prevent postmenopausal syndromes and prevent osteoporosis. The delicious soy milk is full of benefit and don’t forget to try it when you are in Thailand.
