7) T & K Seafood
– This should be the most popular seafood restaurant in Chinatown (Yaowarat Road). T & K is a legendary street corner seafood restaurant with great fresh seafood and reasonable prices. There is an outdoor area which is permanently packed, but one can also eat inside or upstairs with air conditioner. Most people enjoy having the grilled giant prawns, crab claws, cockles, squids or crabs in yellow curry, steamed lemon sea bass and seafood tom yum soup in coconut milk or as a clear soup. For vegetable lovers, there is a stir fried morning glory in oyster sauce with some chilies and tiny garlic bulbs to add more flavour.
The menu here is in English with pictures of all the dishes. The prices are indicated even per weight for seafood, so one does not have to worry about over paying.
Location: Intersection of Yaowarat Road and Padung Dao Street.
In front of “Thong Suphan Yaowaraj” gold shop.
Open hours: from 4:30 pm. to 2am.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_single_image image=”2924″ css_animation=”fadeInUp” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_self” title=”T&K seafood – Thank you picture tripadvisor.com member Joh P” img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_single_image image=”2923″ css_animation=”fadeInUp” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_self” title=”T&K seafood – Thank you picture from tripadvisor.com member turbotoddi” img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_single_image image=”2922″ css_animation=”fadeInUp” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_self” title=”T&K seafood – Thank you picture by tripadvisor.com member mrslye” img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_single_image image=”2921″ css_animation=”fadeInUp” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_self” title=”T&K seafood – Thank you picture by tripadvisor.com member OneXaverio” img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][vc_column_text]
8) Lek & Rut Seafood
– Another popular seafood restaurant in Yaowarat, just right opposite T & K Seafood. Just the same as T & K, it offers varieties of affordable fresh seafood with both outdoor and air conditioned indoor (a few steps away) seating for its customers. Also similar to T & K, it is always packed and yet people patiently wait for a seat, standing wherever possible on the busy road. Being seafood restaurant, the menu is inevitably the same as or similar to T & K. Here, apart from delicious grilled giant prawns, they have scallops stuffed with some pork meat and bacon and grilled in their shells to offer, while cockles are popular among those who like this type of shells. Tom Yum Goong also comes with plenty of shrimps and mushrooms and is one of the best. The fried black crabs in curry powder is another tasty dish to try and one can ask for just the crab meat. Another delightful dish is fish wrapped in pandanus leaves and cooked in foil, it is such a wonderful taste and smell.
Both Lek & Rut and T & K Seafood are two of the best affordable seafood restaurants in town. It has the bustling atmosphere of Chinatown as the setting and the taste of a good grill of fresh seafood with some fantastic Chinese and Thai influenced flavors.
Location: Intersection of Yaowarat Road and Padung Dao Street.
Open hours: from 4:30 pm. to 2am.
